Chalk.

What we keep, and why.

Chalk is run by Alina Kuznetsova. This explains what we collect when you use the app, what we do with it, and how to get it deleted.

Last updated 9 October 2026

What we collect

Your account: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored scrambled, so we can never see them.

What you do in the app: which events and pubs you open, save, follow or tap Let's go on, what you search for, the filters you use, Pick for me, and taps like Get directions or Add to calendar. This is linked to your account.

A random ID for your phone, made by the app the first time you open it, so we can see how people get from opening the app to signing up. It isn't linked to anything else on your phone.

If you run a pub: the details you give us about it (name, address, description, photos, website) and the events you post. These are public.

Your location, only if you allow it. It stays on your phone and is used to show what's near you. We don't store it.

Why we use it

To run the app: signing you in, remembering your saves and follows, and showing you what's on.

To make the app better: seeing which kinds of events people like.

To show pubs how their events are doing: pubs only ever see totals, like "12 looked" or "4 saved". They never see who.

We use your data because it's needed to give you the service you signed up for, and for our legitimate interest in improving it.

Who else handles it

Supabase stores our database and accounts. Mapbox draws the map and turns pub addresses into map pins. Sentry receives a report if the app crashes, so we can fix it (no name, email or location is included). Reminders are set up on your phone itself, so nothing about them is sent anywhere.

We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your details, saves, follows and activity are deleted with it, along with your pub and its events if you run one.

Photos you uploaded for a pub aren't removed automatically yet. Email us and we'll delete them.

Your rights

You can see, correct or delete your data. The quickest way to delete everything is Delete account on the ME tab. For anything else, email us.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Age

Chalk is for people aged 18 and over.
